Earth and the moon

Earth is our planet and, for now, we know that there is only life here. The Moon is the only natural satellite on Earth.

If astronomy studies the bodies and phenomena of the Universe, there is no doubt that we have the first "raw material" for this study on our own planet, the Earth and (to a lesser extent) on the Moon.

The knowledge about our planet and its natural satellite far exceeds what we have over the rest of the Solar System and the Universe. In fact, the study of the Earth exceeds the limits of astronomy and covers many other sciences, such as geology, geography, physics, chemistry, meteorology, biology, ecology ... The study of all these sciences is often called environmental education .

This section is not intended to cover all fronts, but it does offer a sufficiently broad view of the Earth as a planet. This is a site about astronomy and, simply, we are going to study a planet and a satellite with some depth. Any better than ours? At least, of these, we know more details.

The Earth-Moon system is special, and not only because we are in it.
